ORIGINS OF THE FIELD ARTILLERY SCHOOL

• on 7 th April 1881, the Special School for Artillery and Engineers is established in Bucharest;

• 1916 – 1917 – the Special School for Artillery and Engineers is moved to Iasi and then to Botosani;

• on 1 st February 1919 – the Military School for Artillery returned to its headquarters in Bucharest;

• 1920 – 1939 – the Special School for Artillery functioned in Timisoara;

• starting with 1921 The Military School for Artillery will also function in Timisoara;

• 1940 – 1945 – The Artillery Application School ceases activity due to war;

• 1945 – 1948 – the Artillery Officers School is located in Pitesti;

• 1948 – 1961 – the Artillery Officers School conducts its activity in Sibiu at the headquarters of the present Land Forces Academy “Nicolae Balcescu”;

• 1961 – 1970 - The training of the artillery officers took place within the new Military School for Officers "Nicolae Balcescu", the premises assigned to the artillery being those belonging to the present day Training Centre for Communications and Information Technology ;

• 1970 – 1991 – The Military School for Active Artillery Officers “Ioan Voda” functions in the present day headquarters in Sibiu;

• 1991 – 1997 – the Military Institute for Artillery and Geodesy “Ioan Voda”;

• 1997 – 2002 – the Application School for Artillery and Missiles “Ioan Voda”;

• 2002 – 2005 - the Application School for Field Artillery and Air Defence Artillery “Ioan Voda”;

• 2005 – 2008 – the Training Centre for Field Artillery “Ioan Voda”, subordinated to the Application School for Artillery for Combat Support Units “General Eremia Grigorescu”;

• 2008 –present day –the Training Centre for Field Artillery and Air Defence Artillery “Ioan Voda”, component of the Application School for Combat Support Units “General Eremia Grigorescu”.

ORIGINS OF THE AIR DEFENCE ARTILLERY SCHOOL

• 1923 the Application School for Anti-aircraft Artillery was established, in the subordination of the General Inspectorate for Aeronautics, Bucharest;

• 1932 the Application School for Anti-aircraft Artillery is subordinated to Anti-aircraft Defence Staff;

• 1948 - 1965 the Military School for Air Defence Artillery Officers and the Air Defence Training Centre function in Brasov;

• 1949 – the Application School for Air Defence Artillery is subordinated to the Headquarters of the National Air Defence;

• 1965 – 1979 – the Air Defence Drilling Centre conducts activity in Boteni;

• 1979 – 1989 - the Air Defence Drilling Centre conducts activity in Bucharest;

• 1994 – the Application School for Air Defence Artillery is subordinated to Aviation and Air Defence Staff;

• 1997 – 2002 – it becomes the Application School for Air Defence Artillery and Missiles, located in Cernica;

• 2002 - 2005 Within the Land Forces, the School is reorganized and becomes the Application School for Field Artillery and Air Defence Artillery “Ioan Voda”, Sibiu;

• 2005 – 2008 the Training Centre for Air Defence Artillery “General Gheorghe Popescu” is established within the Application School for Combat Support Units in Sibiu;

• 2008 –present day – the Training Centre for Field Artillery and Air Defence Artillery “Ioan Voda” part of the Application School for Combat Support Units “General Eremia Grigorescu” .
